The Botswana Chess Federation is proud to launch a landmark initiative that will bring chess into the education system as a powerful game-based learning tool!
The first cohort of dedicated teachers has already taken their first steps on this exciting journey by learning the basic rules of chess. Their next milestone is becoming internationally recognised FIDE Schools Instructors through the FIDE Preparation of Teachers Course.
Thanks to the generous support of partners, these teachers will receive comprehensive educational resources and teaching materials, equipping them to confidently introduce chess as an innovative learning tool in classrooms across Botswana.
Chess is much more than a game. It builds critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, concentration, strategic planning, and decision-making skills — essential competencies that empower learners both inside and outside the classroom.
This is just the beginning of an exciting journey to empower teachers, inspire learners, and make chess a meaningful part of education throughout Botswana.
